Description

The Imbucare Peg Box consists of a wooden board with six holes and six pegs of which two each are painted with the primary colors. The colored pegs are designed with two different diameters on both sides to encourage children to select the appropriate size to fit in the hole. This also promotes problem solving skills and wrist movement.

Recommended Age Period:

10 months and above.

How to introduce the activity to your child?

To introduce this material, begin with one peg to help the child focus. Place the peg into the slot slowly. Make sure your movements are done in a very calm manner and in slow motion, without explaining vocally. Give your child the space to explore and exercise as many times he/she wants but make sure to stay close and observe their actions.

When your child is proficient with one peg, introduce the rest of the pegs gradually. Later, as the child grows, you can help the child pattern the colors.

What is included?

The imbucare box includes a tray with holes and a set of 6 pegs of which two each are painted with the primary colors – red, blue and yellow. The child here gets to put in the pegs in perfectly crafted holes.

What will my child learn?

The Imbucare Peg Box invites the child to distinguish between different primary-colored pegs and place them into the slots on the tray.

Grasping the pegs and fitting them into the slots trains the sleight of hand and improves the hand-eye coordination.

The pegs in bright primary colors introduce knowledge of color and provide a sorting challenge.

The diameters of the top and bottom of the peg are different. The child needs to fit the bottom of the peg into the slots. By rotating the pegs to fit them into the slot, the child will learn to discriminate size while building wrist strength.

Children can organize the pegs by color, which also promotes experience with algorithm.

What is it made of?

The puzzle tray is made from birchply and the pegs are handcrafted from beech wood and are painted with non-toxic, water based child safe colors.

Note:

Please ensure adult supervision at all times.

Care Instructions

Wooden toys are beautiful and durable. Toys made of natural materials bring your little one a little closer to the nature by nourishing the child’s senses.

Wood has natural anti-bacterial properties, so keeping them clean is simple and you can even get your kids involved in the process. Here are some tips that can come handy while taking care of the wooden toys –

  1. Wooden toys can be wiped with a dry cloth for daily maintenance and cleaning.
  2. No Soaking. Never submerge wooden toys in the water; to clean or otherwise. The wood can soak up the water which can gradually lead to cracks.
  3. Instead, a slightly damp cloth or sponge can be used to remove dirt or dust and then the toy should be air dried.
  4. While drying the toys, do not leave them in a direct sunlight. Sunlight can cause the colours to fade and long exposure to the sunlight and air might damage the wood.
  5. Every once in a while, you may want to moisturize wooden toys when it starts to look dry or dull. Coconut oil or olive oil can be applied sparingly with a washcloth. Then let it dry.
